Closed circulation drilling technologies include the following main areas:

Managed Pressure Drilling
This technology allows controlling the pressure profile in the well at any given depth, determining actual formation pressure gradients and fracture pressure gradients in dynamics, drilling with maintaining constant bottomhole pressure in wells with narrow drilling window (including drilling of longer intervals), prompt increase of bottomhole pressure without the need to replace the wellbore pressure in case of manifestations and instability of the well walls, and other advantages aimed at reducing the bottomhole pressure and increasing efficiency and safety.

Optimization of the drilling process
The goal is to prevent downhole fluid from flowing into the well and safely bleed off manifestations without stopping drilling using specialized equipment.
Underbalanced drilling
Reducing the negative impact of washing fluid on the productive formation (reducing the skin effect in the bottomhole zone), drilling fractured reservoirs without the need to calcify productive zones, increasing the oil recovery factor and well productivity time. This technology also makes it possible to increase MSP during drilling, increase the resource of rock-destroying tools, reduce the risk of differential seizures, and perform production during drilling if necessary.

Maximizing reservoir reserves
The aim is to induce a controlled flow to the surface by under balancing the reservoir using specialized equipment.
Air / mist / foam drilling
Mainly for non HC formations. This technology is very effective in drilling the upper sections of dry hard rock with minimal water inflow, sections with catastrophic PL absorption. Application of the technology with bottom-hole cleaning by Air / Moisturized Air / Foam allows to significantly increase MSP by several times, increase the resource of rock-destroying tools.

Improvement of drilling economics
The goal is to induce flow to the surface.
